“Can someone explain to me how the product width is different than the screen size? It says this laptop has a 16 inch screen size yet has a 14 in display. Seems like false advertising.”

TV's and screens are diagonally measured. Common knowledge.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Screen size is measured by diagonal across from one top corner to the bottom of the opposite corner. So, although the width is just 14", you can still have a 16" screen if the height allows the 16" diagonal across measurement.
