The 4GB is just the RAM, the actual hard drive storage amount is 1TB. On a 1TB hard drive, assuming you use half the space for the operating system and other purposes, you can store approximately 1 million pictures. BUT PLEASE DON'T! You will be much better off if you save your pictures to a USB flash drive, that way your photos are protected and when the day comes that you buy a new computer your photos are still readily available, just plug your drive into the new machine. A USB flash drive such as a Samsung 32GB that I recently purchased from Best Buy will hold about 64,000 photos and you can own as many flash drives as you need to plus they come in many different sizes so you can pick one to best meet your needs. An added advantage to flash drives is in case of an emergency (think floods, etc) the flash drives are small and easy to grab so you can always take your photos with you. USB flash drives are easy to use, just plug it into any available USB port on your computer and your computer recognizes it as an available storage drive. If you are taking photos with a digital camera you can simply "point" the download destination to the flash drive and then the process should be automatic from there. In any event, please don't store precious photos on your computer's hard drive; I can't tell you how many conversations I've had over the years with friends. family, and employees who are devastated that their hard drive crashed and all their photos have been lost. USB flash drives are cheap, dependable, and easily transported. They are simply a much better place to store valuable information like photographs.
