“Compared to a mac book air, would getting a laptop with 16gb of ram, like this one, be a better choice than 8gb for running games off Steam. I only ask because I am much more comfortable with getting a Mac because I know what to expect. Is it worth it?”

Dell runs on Windows 11, the operating system different than Mac OS. Both have their own set of merits and features. You could purchase on according to your requirements and convenience.
