Its confusing because NVMe is not a type of ssd. It is a protocol. M.2 refers to the slot it goes in to. It ultimately uses PCIe. Best buy is horrible with listing detailed information, and i feel sorry for some customers that look at their products in the stores where the specs they advertise aren't even correct and I show them by pulling up dxdiag. I don't think you will be finding any of the older style SSDs that would plug in with a sata cable so what I can tell you is that there are variations in how they fit in the physical slot, and also whether they use x2 x4 or x2x2 PCIe ect. which affects bandwidth.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Bob M.2 is the form factor of the drive and the socket it fits into. NVMe is a high speed capable SSD drive that would fit into the M.2 slot which is also a PCIe slot. Thank you for choosing Intel
