• The 1 TB hard drive is not a solid state drive, but I believe that there are models available that have either a 250 or 500 GB Solid State drive.

• No. This model has a 1TB Hard Drive 5400rpm. But it is fast for booting and working with regular size files. I imagine if i wanted to write a huge file it would make a difference. Dell says you can replace the hard drive with SSD but then you'd lose the 1TB drive as you can only have one drive. I think the Dell XPS can have two drives but then they don't convert to tablet like this 2-in-1.
