“Can anyone tell me EXACTLY the kind of memory I need to buy to upgrade this system? As far as I can tell, it requires DDR4, 2400MHZ, 288pin memory. When I research it though, there seems to be so many close options and I don't want to buy the wrong one”

DDR4/2400 But, I would buy memory that is Ryzen compatible as not all of them will work with the Ryzen. I'd suggest a bios upgrade as well when upgrading the RAM to make sure you don't have any compatibility issues with it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.DDR4 2400 is what Dell installed, but the CPU can go up higher. Of course Dell "recommends" you only put in the type they did, but as long as the CPU can handle it, you can go up to 3200. BUT AMD has only approved that high of RAM post launch, and still recommend a MAX no higher than 2667 (i.e. 2666). Higher speed RAM is ALWAYS beneficial, but more so for RYZEN CPU's, because while great, and it is great, AMD's Infinity Fabric, eats RAM. Best bet, go for an AMD certified 2400 set, or up to a AMD certified 2666 set, I say AMD certified because SOME RAM wasn't posting correctly, they did seems to get that fixed, but to err on caution and extra few bucks, with RAM prices, for RAM that WORKS is the better choice.

It will tell you type of ram that is in the slot, computer comes with one 16gb ram stick installed. It will tell you the type, mfg. I believe, cas latency, and serial number. everything you need to get another one of the same type or buy 2 new ones. 2. If you run the dell support program and look at the memory tab it should give you the same information. 3. I also forgot to mention, if you download and run the Belarc Advisor, I think it will also show memory stick information. I think if you want to add a second stick of memory, it is always preferred to get the same type of ram. For example, mine came with Samsung 16gb stick: M378A2K43CB1-CRC Google that up on amazon and you can see some information on it. go to https://www.compuram.biz/memory and type in your ram stick information and it will give you more than you need to know.
