because it's cheaper. Wireless may have a faster speed in some cases, but you will suffer from latency and packet loss so there are going to be times that it's just not worth it. If you can always do wired connection, if you have to do wifi get something more recent. They're cheap and you can get them from a list of vendors like amazon or wal mart for a fraction of what you would pay at best buy
