per the manual, only up to 16GB is supported.

No. 16GB of ram. For the hardware to be able to process 64GB of ram, the BUSS and Cooling of the components must be a bigger box and this isn't really made for that kind of power. Sidenote: 64GB of ram would be FRIGGIN SWEET on this!
