Customers love the XPS Desktop's performance and ample RAM, finding it easy to use and appreciate the large storage capacity. While some users noted the included mouse could be improved and expressed a preference for faster Wi-Fi, the overall experience is considered positive, particularly given the price. Great computer for the price. The processor/RAM make this a beast. Use 12% system resources when streaming at 1080/30 FPS while running very demanding music software (Serato/Rekordbox). Graphics card isn't a beast, but it is decent enough for my needs. Tons of USB ports: 2 USB 3.0 (Front), 4 USB 3.0 (Rear), 2 USB 2.0 (Rear), 2 USB 2.0 (Top). The only thing I don't like about it is that its a 802.11 b/g/n instead of 802.11 ac. Included mouse and keyboard are OK, I'll be replacing them personally.
Pros:
PRICE
Processor/RAM
Tons of USB 3.0 inputs (6 total - 2 Front/4 Rear
7.1 Soundcard
Hard Drive (VERY SURPRISED, I was going to put a SSD in but there isn't a need IMO. Its quiet and fast)
Cons:
WiFi card

Bought this at a Best Buy store since I like the return policy if there is an issue. Set up quickly, and runs fast and quiet. Multiple inputs are smartly laid out.
Pros: Fast set up, quick boot time, plenty of RAM, quiet.
Cons: I should have done more research on the included video card (2mb GT 730), as it was weak, and did not live up to the main game I play (World of Tanks). I ended up upgrading to an Nvidia GTX 950, and now this rig chews through the game like a champ.
Other thoughts: This is not a knock on the computer, but rather, Windows 10, which comes with a mail client that does not include an address or contact list. Downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird...problem solved. Thanks Mozilla!!

I wanted to use it over a month before making a review. Now that it's been almost 2 months, I can happily say that it surpasses all expectations. The boot up and shut down times are still only a few seconds, the computer runs smooth and fast and I have run into no problems so far. I did purchase a wireless mouse and keyboard, because the ones that come with the computer were a bit uncomfortable, but other than that, no issues. It has all the USB ports you'll ever need, it's easy to upgrade the hard drive and RAM, and it has a dedicated graphics card. Great deal for the price.

everything about the specs from this computer is amazing. from the 1TB hard drive to the 16 gb of RAM, this computer is a monster and just amazing. I don't understand some of the people who say this computer is slow, on the contrary its fast. When I stream im only using 10% of my CPU its just absolutely crazy considering before I would stream on my laptop and use up to 85%. I have been able to relate to the issue with the mouse though, so I bought a wireless mouse and that solved the issue. Other than that, this computer is excellent and Exceeded my expectations.

This is great system, everything about it is fast. No issues with set up, or configuration. This is my second XPS purchase, and the prior one has become a gaming PC for my grandson and still performs exceptionally well for this "critical" application.

I thought this would be a good replacement for my 8 year old i7-920 gaming rig which was still running Vista, I planned to put a GTX 970 (which specifies a 500 W power supply) from my old machine into the new one. I thought I could get away with this because my old PS was just 500 watts. The Dell PS is 460W, but I thought I would be OK because Dell actually sells a "special edition" model of the XPS 8900 that has a GTX 970 in it and still uses the 460 W PS. Well, I was wrong. After changing the video card I got frequent hard crashes and failures to boot. I solved the problem by getting a 750W PS (the Corsair CS750M is a perfect fit and was easy to install). So, this is a pretty good system at a pretty good price, but, as is chronic with Dell, the power supply is inadequate for serious upgrading.

I really like this Dell XPS 8900 that came with Win10 installed. Was also surprised at how much I liked the feel of the keyboard. The mouse was great too but I just don't use a wired mouse. I was a little dismayed that after I checked out the Seagate HDD ST1000DM003 installed as it was reported to have a short life of about 3 yrs. I have never had a HD fail at less than 5 yrs. and I'm not expecting this one to have a short life either.
I did have a couple issues that appear to be Windows10 related but I think should be considered when Dell is setting up machines for users, things that may help others, but obviously not a consideration for the excellent STAR rating here. When I turned the surge protector on or plugged the CPU into a wall outlet, the CPU (and my portable backup drive) came on for 2 seconds and then shut off, every time. The first try at fixing was in the UEFI to check the box in power section to "'turn off" after power restored, which I thought meant it would not come on until I pushed the on button. Wrong. I then changed setting to "power on" when power comes back on. It worked. Now CPU comes on and stays on when switch is flipped on. I'm fine with that behavior vs. the original default behavior which would have put additional stress of startup/shutoff every day when turned on. The other minor issue was to get the Num Lock to come on B4 I entered my PW. Found plenty of help on the internet to change the settings in registry and UEFI which solved that.
So far, after 2 months of use I have had no trouble at all with the Dell XPS 8900 unit. Short startup 2-3 second noise and then really very pleasantly quiet! Everything else seems to be just fine. Will update if anything changes. This may be TMI for some readers, but I take great stock in and learn from most reviews by others and try to reciprocate.

It was time for me to get back to a desktop computer after working on a laptop for several years. This Dell Xps gave me everything I needed at a great price (luv Best Buy's price match policy!).
My primary work flow is post-production digial photography and the Intel Core I7 along with 16gb RAM makes a big difference while working in Photoshop. No hiccups or hesitations.
I wasn't sure what I would think of Windows 10 but I don't mind it at all. Prett easy to navigate.

I wanted to upgrade my office computer. I tried to search for good operating system and stable computer. I believe that I made good decision on XPS. Price was reasonable, and very reliable operation so far. Speed is good and 1 TB is never be filled.
If you are looking for any reliable PC, this is the one. Very silent. a lot of USB. USB 3.0 is on the front. easy to use it.
recommendable.

This Dell is very powerful with the i7 CPU. The 16gb of ram and 1tb hd are top notch. The video card is adequate for normal operations and the 490 watt power supply is more than adequate. At the sale price I don't think you can go wrong. As soon as you get it, I recommend updating Windows 10 with the latest updates before you do anything else. Do that and you won't have any problems.

I bought this computer for using Photoshop when editing my photos. The computer has enough RAM to handle Photoshop. It was easy enough to set up and getting using it. I really like that I can edit so much quicker now than with my old dying computer.

The 8900 Dell works great. I've owned an 8900 Dell in the past for 13 years and it gave me no problems, so I expect this one won't either. The new one has more memory and power. I was warned by friends that Windows 10 was hard to use, but I've found that once I got used to where things are stored it's a breeze.
