Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The cappuccino maker will not fit a regular coffee cup under. It is designed for a cappuccino cup. Not knowing the children age, the milk steamer is scolding hot and I would not allow any one under the age of 16 to operate with out a adult. As for the coffee maker, it makes hot water without putting coffee in the dispenser. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes! Maybe a hidden feature, but you can use the espresso side. Insert the filter thing but don't put any grounds into it. When you use that side, it doesn't have pre-set serving sizes, you have to hit the button to stop the water, so you can dispense any amount you want. The only real limit is that there's not a lot of clearance on that side. I find that a lot of normal coffee cups are too tall to fit in there comfortably. There's about 3 1/2" clearance. You can work around it by maneuvering the filter and the cup into place at the same time, but that might be a little wonky for the kids to try, so get short cups. I love these "soup" mugs.
