• It sounds like plastic, that's what it looks like. The front is metal.

• thanks for all the verified purchasers who answered this. I know it's silly to expect great material and finish at this price point but it would be nice if all the exterior panels were stainless steel instead of polymer made to look like metal. It's probably just the front panels that are steel then, Makes sense as the ECP3420 looks like the same design but with black polymer on the body.
