“I just made my first cup. There was NO crema whatsoever, even my 14 year old espresso maker that I replaced with this one still made crema! Is there a secret? Also I used enough espresso but there was very little flavor and a bit of a tinny taste.”

sounds like not enough ground coffee and/or inadequate tamping. I use two overful scoops then smooth off the top and tamp with light to moderate pressure and a twist. I get good espresso with nice crema every time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You should run a few cylinders of water through it before use. There's also and open/close black knob on the bottom of the basket insert. Loosen that a bit to get more crema.
