Your dvd player with hookup fine using this receiver. Hooking up speakers are no problem, but you think of hooking up a sound bar, it will have to be a passive soundbar. Most soundbars are active, which means they have a built-in amp already. Your tv will hookup the best if you use an optical cable to the reciever.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This receiver has plenty of HDMI ports to connect all that stuff to. As for the sound bar, ask your Best Buy guy, but my understanding is that one buys a sound bar in lieu of, not in addition to, a receiver. The sound bar already has a built in amplifier, and by running the sound bar through the receiver, which has its own amp, can interfer with eachother. So, not only is it needlessly redundant to have both, but your spending extra money (by buying both) and you might get poorer sound quality due to the interference I just mentioned.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In My experience sound bars have their own amplification so I am not sure exactly how that would work. That being said I will not speak on that aspect. I do install automation / low voltage devices for a living however and when I do A/V I just install speakers, typically ceiling mounts. I run all of my components (DVD, Xbox, PStation, Media Streaming units, etc.) to the receiver with individual HDMI cables. The TV has its own HDMI output on the receiver which you attach to any HDMI input available on the TV and voila you can switch between the devices and listen to the radio, all through the speakers! I am sure this receiver will work in that scenario. Again, make sure you have a HDMI cable for each device, including the television.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your using a sound bar then you don't need a receiver. Just run a optical cable from the sound bar (assuming it has the port) to the audio out on the TV then anything you have playing on the TV will play on the sound bar. If you need the receiver just for a tuner then run the optical cable to the receiver out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, skip the sound bar and get this receiver paired with a 5.2 speaker system. Have geek squad come over and do the install and teach you how to use everything.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Call geek squad Yes. Wires. Go to the store, tell them the receiver you want, tell them you need speakers (NOT A SOUND BAR), then have geek squad put it together for you. Then live Happy :-)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I own a Blu-ray player and a Directv satellite receiver, both of which use HDMI cables to hook up to a tv OR a receiver. This unit allows you to hook up several media devices, and then have one single HDMI cable go from the receiver to your tv, leaving one cable that you need to hook up to the tv, instead of 2 or 3 or more cables. It also has inputs for the older units (red, white and yellow hookups). Now I don't know about hooking up a soundbar to this, since I bought this to get speakers to replace my old soundbar. But it's not as hard as you might think to get both your media connected, and then connect your speakers with speaker cable wire. The back of the receiver is very clearly labeled so you will have almost no problem hooking things up. Just experiment until you get everything right. P.S., there are spots for an outgoing Digital Optical audio cable, so if your soundbar has a spot for a cable, you might be able to hook it up to the receiver and get sound. But in all honesty, I can tell you that getting the speakers is worth the upgrade.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes use hdmi cables to hook up the receiver. That's the simplist way to do it . And enjoy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. All you will need is the sound bar and speaker wire.
