Q: QuestionI just purchased the S740H. My living room has 3 ceiling speakers above the unit and my Samsung tv. Approximately 15 ft away over our sofa are two more ceiling speakers and a sub woofer. How do I connect the speakers so that all speakers work. Thanks

  The AVR-S740H is capable of grouping speakers together to play audio in a stereo format. You will not be able to use the wireless speakers in a surround sound format.

Q: QuestionDoes this receiver decode DTS-HD Master audio and Dolby True-HD or does it only do the DTS-X and Dolby Atmos? I want to be able to utilize the DTS-HD audio that you find on most blurays

  To answer your question, yes. DTS-X is layered on top of the DTS-HD Master Audio. Making DTS-X the updated version of DTS-HD.

  With the AVR-S740H your Dolby Atmos connections would the SURROUND BACK terminals on the receiver. These terminals are assignable and can set within the AMP ASSIGNMENT.

  This is a great question. Allow me to provide some recommendations. The speakers I will be recommending are POLK brand speakers. Keep in mind speaker choices are also based on receiver setup. So based on your setup this should help you decide on which speakers to choose.

  Good – on wall option: FL/FR/C: 3x OWM5, LS/RS: 2x OWM3
  Better – bookshelf sized: FL/FR/LS/RS: 4x RTi A3, Center: 1x CSi A4.
  Best – Towers: FL/FR: 2x RTi A5, Center: 1x CSi A6 CC, LS/RS: 2x RTi A1.
  *Note that every system listed would also benefit from the addition of a separate powered subwoofer as well.

  I hope this helps. If you get the opportunity to test them out at your local authorized dealer, do so. You will not be disappointed.

Q: QuestionJust bought this receiver and every time I go into setup assistant it makes my Vizio M55-F0 TV screen go black and won’t let me do it. Any tips or tricks? I can make other adjustments in the setup mode, I just can’t configure properly.
