If you are using MC to represent Moving Coil for your cartridge, you will need a pre-preamp as most moving coil pickups have very low output of typically less than 1 mv. The preamp in the Denon is set to use a MM or Moving magnet, MI, Moving Iron or high output Moving Coil cartridge with a 2.5 mv output.
