This Denon + Klipsch RP-820f + Klipsch SW-120 (12"x13" room)
I must say, AVRs have come a long way in the past 2-4 years.
This big, little box was supposed to just be a cheaper, but overkill stereo amp for my speakers, but since I've been able to delve into it's features and capabilities I've pushed to have it replace the center of our entertainment system. I personally still don't utilize the surround or Atmos to any level that I could simply due to the fact that you're obviously required to connect those back speakers with a wire, and I've no intention to run them loose through the room, nor fish in the walls for the time being, but it's there for when I want to add some height modules to the front.
My favorite feature so far has to be the input assignment. Yeah, there's a lot of presets like your Blu-Ray player, DVDs, Game console, etc... but in both the on screen menu, and the WEBSITE*. In this area of the settings, you're able to customize the mapping of inputs between the presets. Want to plug in a PC but use the audio from an external DAC? SURE! Set the PC HDMI to the correct input, set mode to Analog, and pick either the 1st or 2nd input for analog. TADA, it will ignore audio over HDMI and use the better DAC audio for your music needs. Don't get me wrong, the DAC in this is okay if you don't know of the difference in sounds for DACs, but if you're picky you might want to opt for your higher dollar one on analog stereo at least when it comes to music.
*(Find the local IP address when you connect the AVR to LAN or Wi-Fi, and put that in your web browser on a phone/tablet/PC on the same network)

My first Denon receiver and I am really pleased with the quality and power this pushes out to my speakers. I would highly recommend this unit for a Home Theater application. Nice clear sounds even at high volumes.

We use the Denon with our TV, iTunes, Netflix and Alexa. Controlling it with a phone app makes it super convenient and it works great with multiple zones. The sound quality has amplified the amazing environment throughout our home. Very happy with Denon and would highly recommend it.

I highly recommend this Reciever. It sounds amazing and was really easy to setup. I had absolutely no issues with it. I was coming off a disappointing experience with a higher end piece which I had just previously returned.

This AVR is most compatible with Klipsch Audio System (Home Theater / Surround with Sub Woofer 2nd unit option) with the 7.2 Channel capability, and easy to install cables / connections for Audio and Video Appliances.

I had an Onkyo receiver that I still really as it is a high quality receiver with a lot of features. However, it was na 5.2 receiver. I wanted to step up to a 7.2 and therefore I originally purchased a Sony receiver. Although I really enjoy the new Sony speakers I purchased, Core Series including 2 subs, two towers, a center channel, two bookshelf, and a pair of elevation speakers, I did not like the receiver. It was a 7.2 but was really stripped down with few features and also had a noticable hum. I decided to do some more research and was impressed with all that this Denon receiver offered at a fair price. I was NOT disappointed. I am not an "audiophile" but do know the difference in quality sound and features. I give this receiver 2 thumbs up!

Just bought this today. Opened it up, set it up and it asked me to update the firmware. Well, during the update the AVR decided to stop at 80% and it went into a boot loop. I tried all the fixes I saw online and it appears this unit was dead on arrival. If the update fails you cannot fix it. This was not my doing I was simply following the on screen commands. My first experience with denon was not a good one. Will probably never buy another product from this company.

We're very sorry you had a poor experience. Regarding the issue, it sounds like the unit lost communication with the server during the download process. In that event, there is a procedure where you can regress the unit's corrupted firmware back to the initial version. From there, you can download and install the current version again. Not sure why our Support team didn't suggest that when you called in.

Information displays on the TV, but the panel display remains dark, despite setting the brightness to maximum via the smartphone remote application.
Online sources also mention taking the sound mode off of "Pure" as well.
I thought Denon represented state of the art, as far as home audio went, but those days are sadly passed.

We've had 3 AV receivers over the years. The first was a 5.1 Sony, the second a 7.1 Denon, and as we wanted Bluetooth capabilities, we upgraded to this one. And I LOVE it. Some notes:
1. The labels for wires seem like a no-brainer, but this is the first time we've seen them and they made setup SO MUCH EASIER.
2. The on-screen setup was so easy! Much easier than last time. The speakers were already in place so we just had to move wires over, but the total setup took less than 30 minutes!
3. The little setup microphone was easier to use than last time, too, though it took a long time and if you hit 'back' afterwards, it had to do the whole process over. Still, our living room shape isn't ideal, and it seemed to help the sound quality a lot. It even comes with a cardboard stand if you don't have a tripod. We have a tripod, but I set up the cardboard stand anyway because I am a nerd. :P
4. While the HeOS app for music services is a little kludgy, it is SO nice to be able to stream directly through the receiver! I have Tidal Hifi (which I also get from Best Buy and highly recommend if you are an audiophile or are just hard of hearing like me, because it really makes music much more clear) and it sounds AMAZING on this system in surround sound!
5. It seems to auto-detect the audio signal on streaming input, which is EXCELLENT. Watching Disney+? It will detect Dolby Atmos and switch to that setting. Watching something in Dolby Surround? It'll auto-switch to that. You can still choose and tweak those settings if you want, and some signals seem to not be detectable, but there's so many audio variations these days that it can get confusing, so the auto-detect is REALLY nice.
6. We use a Logitech Harmony Hub to control our entire home theater system, which this plugs easily right into. But bonus: if it's in standby mode (default) and you pull up the HeOS app, you can start streaming music playing without any other remote. (and yes, I do this ALL the time.)
Overall, I love this thing. LOVE it.

This is a awesome receiver for the money. They matched Costco price. Sound quality is great. Easy setup. The HEOS capability is great. This is my second HEOS receiver and they work well together. Much cheaper setup for surround sound system than a SONOS systems that can play Hi-Res audio Unlike SONOS. I’m able to play Hi-Res audio from 1 Amazon HD Music account to Family room and Office surround sound receiver as well as to Zone 2 (master bath and pool) and HEOS Bar 3 sound bar connected to lanai TV and Denon Home150 in MasterBed room. Also works well with my Emby music server for playing local files on my NAS. You can play music from over 10 music services. My Wife and I can control from our iPhones and iPads easily. I have already recommend this system to friends.

I needed a receiver compatible with 4K HDMI signals to accompany the LG CX OLED I just purchased. This receiver is an incredible value for the money and feels very premium in operation. The on-screen setup guide makes it very easy. I'm a professional AV integrator and still appreciated the ease of use.
The sound quality is very good. I am not using it for much more than an amp and switcher, but it seems like the extra features would be great for some.

I was a bit skeptical when purchasing this AVR but it was a pleasant surprise. I was initially looking for an entry level Magnolia AVR but everything in that price range was sold out. After doing a bit of research I came across this Denon AVR. The setup was very simple, highly recommend you connect it to your display, you will need the on screen instructions. It also comes with a lot of customizations available such an EQ for each of your speakers and shortcuts for your sound preference per media type (music, movies, games). This unit came with more than enough power to drive the system I connected it to (2 Def Tech BP9020 with mono connection, Def Tech Pro center, Boston Acoustic sub, 2 Onkyo bookshelf speakers for rear channel). The sound was balanced yet powerful when watching a movie or listening to music. Most importantly, when watching a movie the vocals were not drowned out although the center channel speaker that I used isn't recommended to be paired with BP9020s. Remote pair via HEOS, and air play was exceptional. Couldn't have asked for more out of an AVR.
