• Not a very good receiver for really good speakers, at 4 ohm this thing is going to get hot. It gets hot at 8 ohm when you push it. Invest in a good amp and you can use this just for the updated HDMI connections. Good luck I gave mine to my daughter Because I was really disappointed with the quality.

• Yes, but it may be better and give full power with 2 Ohm 25 Watt (or greater) resistor in series with the + lead on both speakers (i.e., two resistors) to the speaker input leads. This unit is rated for 6 Ohm speakers minimum, so a two own resistor puts you in the sweet spot for 4 Ohm speakers. I use Linn Tokata speakers with resistors.
