The sound from this receiver is pretty good. Has plenty of power for my needs and plenty of inputs. Setup was easy. I did have to make some tweaks which should be expected. Got a good deal and would recommend, especially if you can find it on sale.

Great Sound. Very versatile and good home automation integration. The on screen display is fairly easy to navigate and understand. Android app control is sometimes a little slow to update, but works well and you can control everything about the AVR from the app. Wish the physical remote had backlighting and a little more intuitive - I use the dish universal remote for simple control (works good with dish network). I had a hard time getting the device to recognize "off" signals through HDMI cable at first, but if it doesn't seem like it works, it's most likely the HDMI settings in your TV or Dish receiver.

Upgraded from an “old” 7.1 channel receiver to get the latest tech, including Bluetooth. This was easy to install (but I had to get the user manual online) and easy to use. The sound is great on movies, music and broadcast tv. I considered other more expensive models but I am glad I chose the Denon.

I recently upgraded my AVR from a 13 year old AVR to this Denon. I recalled how much I had to do to get the old unit set up with input assignments and other setup features to get it working just the way I wanted and was not looking forward to having to struggle through this setup again, as so much has changed in 13 years I thought. I friend recommended this Denon AVR for me to go with my new TV and Blu-ray and told me this AVR is one of the easiest to setup and is a quality unit. I only setup these things up once a decade or so, but this Denon setup menu proved to be very user friendly and I was able to go systematically through each setting and get everything set up just the way I like it. It is connected to my new Samsung 4K UHD TV and Sony Blu-ray and it produces great sound on my 5.1 surround setup. I even hooked up Zone 2 to my patio speakers and have been using the Denon HEOS application on my iPhone to control them with ease.

I researched several weeks, comparing different manufacturers, models and features. This receiver provided great features, and a price point that gave a lot for the money. Once I got it set up, and configured...OH MAN WHAT A GREAT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.

We didn’t know what we were missing until we got this receiver. Our movie watching becomes more enjoyable because of the sound this receiver can do. I like the number of options for the sound mode from stereo for radio listening to Atmos surround for Blu-ray action movies. I am not a sound expert but I love the sound of this receiver. I’m glad to find this from Best Buy. It is so cheap that I was able to get the surround speakers and accessories without spending a lot of money. A great satisfying project for a regular DIY guy like me.

Denon makes a great receiver. I previously had an onkyo from 2005, pre hdmi and needed an upgrade. I was waiting for HDMI-CEC, as a recent tv I purchased includes that as well. I didn't think my receiver would improve my sound system dramatically, and setting everything up sounded a little better. It wasn't until the calibration was done where everything sounded much better (and it sounded good to begin with). I have everything paired with a KEF R300, KEF r200c, and a KEF KUBE 10b. The new denon atmos virtualizer is great, although I can't tell if it limits the virtual surround sound, although I will upgrade to surround sound and not worry about this in the future.

I had a Yamaha RX-V685 that died. Replaced it with this unit. Pretty close to the same specs. This unit sounds so much better right out of the box than the Yamaha did after running their speaker setup program. Connects to everything with all the HDMI ports available. I have an Atmos setup and this receiver powers all 8 speakers without a hiccup. Should've gone Denon years ago. only complaint is that it is a bit pricy when not on sale - but you get what you pay for!

I've always had Sony receivers, and I upgraded recently to get 4K pass through for my new TV. The comparable Sony was okay except it pulled up it's own menu on the TV whenever I changed inputs, and various forums showed it was a known issue that Sony would not address. Super annoying. I took it back and got this Denon. Three benefits right away: 1) The set up was easier, 2) it checks for updates periodically, so if there ever was something to be updated it would just do it, and 3) it doesn't have a self-important menu that pops up unsolicited.

I bought this to replace a Sony AVR that at less than 2 years old blew its video card twice. This receiver rocks. Easy to setup, plenty of hdmi inputs, wifi, bluetooth, and lots of power for your speakers. Use the Adussey program to configure your speakers then do your fine tuning afterwards. Denon has a fan for life with me and if you buy this receiver or another one of their models you will be a fan too.

We moved into a house that had a media room that was fully wired but needed an AVR. I’m not savvy in these things so after a little research decided on this and am very happy with it. I really appreciated the step by step set up process that helped me ensure all my connections were set, including several speakers, an amp for my subwoofer, and a turntable. The sound is incredible and I love the ease of use. Great unit that is highly recommend!

I was a little Leary going with a name I don’t know. I’ve been a Sony customer for years and this product was recommended to me by a BB agent. It had excellent reviews and it fit all the things I wanted. Hooked it up very easily and set up was a snap. It has easy to use controls and menus. Power and sound was all I wanted and the app takes it to a new level. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Good luck to all who make this easy choice.

Great Receiver for the Price. I previous had another Brand Receiver which the sound kept cutting off and on. Did some research and the Denon AVR-S950H, best bang for the buck. Ordering was easy and fast delivery. Installed the receiver and the sound is great, especially with the New Atmos Virtualizer, makes a big difference. Easy configuration.

I purchased this receiver to update my 5.1 Onkyo receiver I had purchased over a year ago. I can't be happier with this ls decision. The quality sound I get from this receiver is incredible. The only problem is that it's a little more complicated to use than my previous one. You can only use their HEOS app to connect your phone, you cannot by pass this and use regular Bluetooth, and the app is unreliable, thats my only problem.
