Mine is currently connected to my older 5.1 bookshelf speakers and sounds great. Far superior to my old entry level 5.1 receiver of a different brand without wireless. Just not using the last two assignable channels. The system will walk you through 5.1 setup. My magnolia advisor said I can add floor-standing front speakers and move two bookshelf speakers to the rear to use all channels, or use the two channels for bi-amp or directional speakers that sit on top of the floor speakers (the sound bounces off the ceiling). I’ll likely go with higher-end (higher-priced) speakers at some point to better utilize the full capabilities of the Denon. Denon is very quick to respond to direct inquiries or calls. Magnolia has been very helpful with selecting and demoing products in their studio. Wait until you hear the larger speakers with the Denon! The Definitive Technology floor speakers have an integrated sub, which looks interesting. I also have my eye on Martin Logans. Have fun with your new system!
