Yes, the X4700H can process up to 11 channels with an external 2 ch amp. You can look into our sister brand Marantz. They have a 2 ch amp, model # MM7025. That would be 140W per channel. Aside from that, any 2 ch amp is fine to use.

The high priced amps mentioned from the others is super over kill for the rear channels. Best Buy sells a Kenwood automotive four channel amp D series for $125.00 that is perfect and in fact is used frequently for this. If you enter surround sound amplifier in their search bar it comes up. Otherwise copy and paste this info: Kenwood Kenwood - Class D Bridgeable Multichannel Amplifier with Variable Crossovers - Black Model:KAC-314SKU:6330250----- I use an old Xbox360 power supply ( you tube videos everywhere and super easy) along with the mono trigger wire. This is really easy to set up and once you go through Audessey it does all the work to get you 11.2. This works very well is not some janky set up. There are power supply units in old computers you can use as well. You just need a minimum of I believe it is 14.5 amps. Regardless, there are hundreds of videos on the subject. I have it mounted behind the scenes and you can't even see it. It works fricken fabulous! The mono jack is only available online which was a buzz kill. I bought the stereo and converted it to mono; that works as well.

All power is based off ohm load and typically floor speakers are a 6 or 8 ohm load which will cut the max power in half Then you’ll lose half again to go from a max power load to the only number that matters which is the rms, (this is valid for both the speakers and amp). Just pay attention to the rms power at the ohm rating of the speakers. Anyway that stuff aside crowns are built like tanks and made to handle both the clean finesse of studio recording and the abuse of being lugged around the country.
