Hi Domonique, Thanks for posting your question. I'm not quite sure I'm following what you mean when you say "use my laptop as a viewfinder" but if you are simply trying to view the images on your laptop, you should be able to do so if you have software installed on your computer to view images. If you are looking to use your laptop as a true viewfinder when taking pictures, you may only be able to do so if the software that came with the camera offers this as an option.
