- Answer Hey jay, Thank you for your question! No, there is not a switch to turn the brush roll off. Our vacuums are designed to have space between the brushes and the floor so they should never contact each other, however I would recommend looking into one of our models with a height adjustment feature, such as the Endura Max Upright, to adjust the height of your vacuum easily so the brush roll scratching your floors isn't a risk. - Answer It is supposed to just click in place. Mine wore out in a few weeks. the mechanism that holds it in is weak and wears out. This vacuum is utter crap.
