Absolutely at hi-fidelity quality with the base and mono without.

Yesit does. The DJI Action 2 can record sound with the camera only and can record sound with the screen module as well. As a matter of fact using the screen module along with the camera it combines 4 microphones together which makes the sound much more clear and precise. Hope this answers your question.
