Buy one in the UK and you'll be good to go. USA and UK rules are different when it comes to radio transmissions.

It's not just functional in the US. It works worldwide! Wherever you can connect to satellites. Note; The UK might have different flight laws than the US. That's something you'll have to check on before you fly. But yes, you can purchase it here, and bring it to the UK on vacation (holiday) or permanently move there. It will work!!!
