• Cell phone service is not required the drone can fly with out wi-fi/service I recommend getting a sd card for your controller and offline download the map of where you are going to have more information.

• No cell phone required. The controller with the screen makes it easy to get quick shots. I have the Pro, but the concept and controller are the same. I find that I fly my Mini 3 Pro series more often compared to my previous DJI drones (I have several) for that reason. I can get it up before conditions change or, if taking human subjects, everyone looses interest.
