• yes different manafactures make the wire coating in different colors typically obe wire is a redish tint the other silver tint insidethe coating

• The answer is NO. Your pre-amp out is a very low voltage signal that is designed to feed another amplifier which would then connect and power your woofer speaker. You could get yourself a powered subwoofer that would connect to your amplifier's preamp output. That may be your best option.
