The stand holes should face the back of the TV and the screws should go through the holes in the back of the TV then into the ones in the stand. The stand post sets farther towrd the back than the front. Stand post to front of stand is about 8". Stand post to rear of stand is about 4". So be sure the largest part of the stand is in front of the TV. The stand can swivel but it should have no front to back or side to side movement when the screws are tightened down. Even as heavy as the stand and TV is, it should not easily move. Because of it's weight be sure you have a very strurdy thick table that won't warp easily over time. Hope this helps
