Can this be used between a laptop and a projector? null

Yes - as long as the laptop has the mini displayport jack and the projector has an HDMI input it will work fine. We use these in conference rooms now - mostly to connect to large TVs but I have used them connected to a projector with an HDMI input.

If the projector has a DisplayPort input, it should be able to work with a projector.
