I would look at moving the fan if its sucking in the hot air exhaust from the power supply, look lower down for vents or at the front of the case towards the bottom if a fan isn't already there would be a good spot to.

Your intended usage should not be a problem, as if it is hot enough to damage the fan the computer will have overheated to the point of shutting down.
