• The standby power consumption is very low (7 months of continuous standby time).

• I too was suspecting so. But, after two weeks of heavy use, the mouse's batteries got discharged but the keyboard's battery haven't. So, probably the keyboard has a better handling of power and turning off when not in use.

• I take the battery out of mine so when you need it again it isn't dead. Should have an on/off switch to prevent having to do this though
