The studs are the vertical 2 x 4 inch pieces of lumber that form the skeleton of the wall in your house or apartment. The wall is placed on top of the studs. The bracket is attached through the wall to the stud with heavy duty screws/bolts that are provided with the bracket. Good luck. If you are unsure of what you are doing then get some help. It is an easy project but you need to be able to locate where the studs are located to provided a sturdy mounting for the bracket and tv. The (typically) gypsum wallboard that modern walls are made out of is probably not strong enough to support a heavy television set.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm a girl/women, its very easy to do, don't even attempt to use a stud finder, if ur in a old house. take a small hammer and knock on the wall and tap tap tap, when u hear a hard loud sound, its a stud. If ur hear a hollow sound, no stud, they are 16 inches apart, older houses maybe more or less or use a tiny nail and tap it into the wall until u hit a stud. very easy to do, wish I had of found this cheap one before I paid $49.99 for mine and the price increase in a week up $10. Very fast and easy to install, they come with template, to tape over the wall and make the holes, u will need a drill, two or four pcs. of tape, a tape measure and leveler, to make sure it is straight. borrow the tools from a male friend....good luck...........smdh
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The studs are located inside your wall. This needs to be screwed into those studs for extra support.
