You shouldn't have to hold it down no more than 1 second. You should only have to do this once during set up and possibly every time you change the battery. If you can't connect the mouse to its receiver instantaneously, update your usb drivers or try another port.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it's normally just a few seconds (2-5). Or if there is an LED, just hold until the LED flashes or blinks. Please make sure your batteries are inserted with the correct polarity. Also, some USB hubs will inhibit the receiver operation. Plug receiver directly into a computer USB port. Hope this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine set up right from the get go. If a Windows 7 machine, it will go to the web to download a driver if needed after you insert the USB connection. I put mine in a non-SS (standard) USB port and it worked great. Not sure about the process in Windows 8, if that is what you have. With the USB connection inserted, the connect button should only be needed to reset it and reconnect it. A few seconds is all that is needed.
