• Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. You sure can. When you first turn on the vacuum and recline it, the brush bar will automatically be on. To disable that, keeping the machine reclined, press the brush bar button which is located next to the power button. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
