Hello DrtyGrl, This is Miella from Dyson. The Dyson Ball MultiFloor is great for picking up pet hair deep within the fibers of your carpet and flooring. The stair tool does attach and detach to the hose each use. Hope this helps! Miella Dyson Customer Support
