Hi Charlene, this is Kelly with Dyson. You can use your machine on hardwood flooring, however keep in mind that your machine's brush bar is powered by suction. It cannot be turned off, but it can be slowed down. We hope this helps! Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

I purchased the articulating floor brush (sold separately) because 90% of my home is hardwood floors. Highly recommend you do too. Just snap off the rotating brush attachment, snap on the floor brush and you’re good to go
