Hi Natalie, this is Kelly with Dyson. The plates on the Corrale measure 1.02 inches x 3.54 inches; you should be able to grab those smaller hairs in the front, and get them to pass between the plates without any issue. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
