Hi Lynn, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for your interest in the Dyson Cyclone V10. The Dyson cordless do not require the docking station to charge. You can bypass the dock and charge it by using just the wall charger. Best Wishes, Krystal Dyson Customer Support
