No. WiFi is NOT REQUIRED to use this unit. It comes with a remote control. However, you won't get any data concerning the air quality in your home. The app provides the data (and has other functions too). You'll still be able to tell that it is working by how breathable the air is in your home (you'll physically be able to tell the difference), but you just won't have any visual data. I would suggest the TP01 - I think it's the same design without WiFi - or the TP04 which has a visual data screen built-in.
