QuestionI live in a high-rise apartment building and cigarette smoke from another apartment has been coming into my apartment. Will this get rid of the smoke odor that comes in from another apartment?

- Answer If you have it on high, next to where the smoke is coming from, it should help. You have to remember smoke is pretty much lighter than air and the size of the unit is maybe 3 feet. Plus another thing to consider is where the filter is, it sits on the floor, but it does clean the entire room (at least mine). I leave mine on 24/7 and so far, so good. Hope this helps.

QuestionDoes this generate notable heat simply from operating? I'd use it in an enclosed room, without a/c, and don't want to warm the room above its already uncomfortable summer levels.

- Answer It depends on the size of the apartment. It covers 400 square feet of space. I would suggest treating one room at a time, then leave it on auto in the living room (or other location that needs attention).

- Answer Yes. It works as a fan too but the airflow is not as powerful. If you need a fan that blows forceful, powerful air this is not it. It does an excellent job cleaning the air though.

- Answer No. The operating instructions specifically states not to operate near fireplace or areas with high temperature heat sources.

- Answer Hi Jeb, this is Krystal with Dyson.The filter in the Dyson Pure Cool air purifier cannot be re-used. How often you change it, does depend on how often it is used. If used for 24 hours a day, it will need to be changed about once every 6 months. If used for 12 hours or less per day, it will need to be changed about once every year. - Answer Yes, it has a filter. The system works well, however when it's time for a new filter, you can only get it from Dyson directly, and they are $75. As of today, I am still waiting to hear when I will receive it - they were out of stock and it was on back order. So...not thrilled right now.
