Hello Nic, this is Kelly with Dyson. Great question about the Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Link. For safety, this appliance is fitted with automatic cut-out switches that operate if the appliance tips over or overheats. While in heating mode the appliance will also automatically switch 'OFF' after 9 hours of continuous use and will return to standby mode. I hope this helps! Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
