“Does this Dyson work in a room if the windows are open?”

Yes it will work, but you will only feel the breeze, defeating the purpose of cooling or heating your room. I leave mine on during the day with curtains shut, and my air conditioner rarely kicked on during the day. It keeps the room comfortable.
