No. The Dyson filter is not equipped to destroy particles of nanometers in size. Units for that purpose are quite expensive and normally limited to industrial and/or academic laboratories working with bacterial and viral cultures. The formaldehyde destruction property of the unit is a specialized filter designed to capture that particular molecule from the environment. Formaldehyde, with the chemical makeup of CH20, and a weight of 16 g/mol is designed to be captured by the unit with a special filter which is not designed to capture viruses or bacteria.

The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde™ HP09 captures pollutants such as dust, allergens and viruses from the air and circulates purified air evenly across the room, cooling you when you need it. It comes with a fully sealed HEPA filtration that traps allergens, gases and smoke. For this specific model, it also detects & destroys formaldehyde released from household items.
