I don’t think it’s normal. I purchased the Dyson hair dryer at launch. It worked fine for a few months until the battery emitted a loud buzzing. For that level of noise when it is not even on is unacceptable. I contacted them and they immediately replaced it. I guess too many people started complaining and it was affecting their bottom line. So now they tell you it’s normal when in fact it is not. The replacement lasted about 15 months before it started buzzing. It is out of warranty and I’m not sure if I want to get another one. It appears to be a reoccurring issue.

The noise you are hearing is caused by some of the electrical components emitting a frequency which can sometimes be heard as an electrical humming noise. This is not specific to Dyson products. It is okay to leave plugged in. Best Wishes, Krystal Dyson Customer Service
