I'm not sure about paint fumes. I actually purchased it for cigarette smoke and honestly it doesn't really work well. I would recommend looking into other options especially because the price point is so high on the dyson.

The Dyson Pure Cool Link Tower features our 2nd Generation filter, which has three times more graphite than the 1st Generation filter. Also, the newer filter has Tris-coated graphite crystals to capture more household odors and gases, such as formaldehyde. VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) are gaseous chemical compounds, both human-made and naturally occurring, including fumes and toxins. These are neutralized when they react with the layer of activated carbon on the inside of the filter. You should find our purifiers to help immensely with paint fumes.
