Hi Carol. Thank you for your interest in the V8 Absolute. You do not need to wait for it to have a full charge to use it. However, without a full charge, you do not get the full battery life for each use. MAX mode is great for heavier debris. With the clear canister, you will be able to see that you are getting enough suction as you will see the debris within the canister, ensuring you that it is picking up. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. You do not have to wait for a full charge. There are three lights, and as long as one of them is on (solid) it will work. I pretty much do leave it in MAX mode all the time, and I can get quite a bit done before it runs out. In some situations I can see that the MAX mode might be too much power. I have some area rugs, and find I can vacuum them in the regular mode without anchoring them down.

Please try again later.For the first initial charge, you want to charge it for 5 hours, after that, you are not required to charge it for 5 hours to use it again, but the way I look at it is, you are better off just fully charging it, rather than half charges, where you would be putting it back on the charger half as fast anyways. The Max setting is not needed except for certain areas that you will come to realize on your own surfaces after using it for a bit. The standard mode cleans the rugs better than any corded vacuum I have owned. The Max setting is nice to have, but its not needed and think of it as an added bonus for areas you absolutely think you will need it. Like I said, the standard setting is better than any setting on any vacuum I have ever used, by far. Also the V8 Absolute has all the accessories an HEPA filtration.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My wife plugs it in between uses. She might use it 4-5 times a day - because it's so handy. She very seldom uses max suction, because it picks up just fine. She uses the carpet tool on everything and is amazed at the performance.
