“The ecobee3 lite used to be incapable of using room sensors. On ecobee’s website now of the ecobee3 lite, it says “Now works with room sensors.” Is THIS ecobee3 lite that Best Buy sells capable of using room sensors, or is it an older version that can’t?”

Yes it does support room sensors, as long as you have installed the latest firmware on the thermostat. The thermostat will automatically update itself to the latest firmware when you connect it to the internet.
