Unit comes with a C-wire scavenger box. Simple instructions will show how to wire the unit to scavenge power to operate thermostat and your HVAC. Ecobee has great call in support as well.

Please try again later.It does not have a battery, but the ecobee comes with a little adapter that allows you to boost power on another wire, such as G, if you don't have a true C wire. Either way, ecobee customer support is super helpful and if you send them a picture of your current thermostat wiring, they'll tell you exactly what you need.
