• If you don’t have a C wire, you can use the adaptor that is in the Ecobee box.

• While I have a ‘C’ wire, the device does come with a little adapter for those who don’t have a C wire (at least my purchase did at a different store)

• Yes, it requires a 24 VAC source to operate. This is two wires in addition to the two wires to operate the heating systems.

• The ecobee 3 lite does not require a C Wire for installation. There are installation instructions in the box, including a device you can install to power the thermostat without the C Wire. The installation instructions are fairly straightforward, and can be downloaded online if you want to check out how to install before you buy...which is what I did.

• I just installed mine and I did not have a C wire. The instructions are VERY clear about how to install both with and without a C wire.
