QuestionDoes the Ecobee sensor require motion to utilize or can I just put it into a room and give that room priority even though no one is in it?

- Answer No it doesn't require motion. In colder weather I often set my ecobee to only go by the bedroom temperature even if I'm elsewhere in the house, because the bedroom is always the coldest room. Works great. I think you can set it to the "follow me" feature that would require motion but I don't bother with that.

QuestionSo I have recently purchased this device. However, I have two thermostats and only one of these ecobees. Will there be an issue if I install this one with the PEK and do not have another ecobee to replace the 2nd thermostat? Please advise.

- Answer Not if each thermostat is controlling different units. If the thermostats control the same unit you might have a battle of the thermostats.

- Answer With the assistance of their technical support, I was able to connect the thermostat to a heat pump in my condo. My 15 yr old unit did not have a control board but just a bunch of colored wires. They had me remove the PEK (was not required) and I wired the following wires to these connectors: Left side: Red -> Rc, Green -> G, Yellow->Y1, Blue->O/B Right Side: Brown->C, White->W1

QuestionI currently live in a one bedroom condominium. My thermostat is in my living room behind a tv. The TV throws off some heat will that affect the way the echobee operates. And will it be able to pick up people in motion sensor with the TV semi blocking it

- Answer There are alerts that are able to be set for temperatures and those alerts will feed to your phone if you have the ecobee app setup on your phone.

- Answer Not well, it works with it but the temperature is lost in communication with the ecobee, let's say I request "OK google set main floor to 78 degrees heat" it will reapet "OK setting up the main floor to 78 degrees" and then change the temperature to 69 - 88 (69 heat 88 cool).

Questiondoes this require some sort of hub to work? or can I just install and control with my phone? not clear on what exactly a hub even is... please explain.

- Answer No hub needed, if you want to use it with your phone you will need to connect it to your home WiFi. Other than that, you just need the app on your phone and you can control it from there or the thermostat. No additional hub or purchase needed to control it.

QuestionOur Lennox icomfort Wifi thermostat no longer works just as the warranty expired (figures). Rather than replace with Lennox, considering the ecobee4-wi-fi-thermostat. Will it operate our HVAC with humidifier.

QuestionCan you use the Ecobee 4 with boiler heat and an air conditioning unit. They are two separate pieces of equipment. I figure that I need the extender but not sure which piece of equipment I need to connect it to.

QuestionHow is this really zoned? From reading other answers I understand what it does, but unless you can turn off/on various ducts or vents it is just pumping more cold air or war air out until the room with the sensors reach desired temp. What am I missing?

- Answer What you stated is correct. It with pumpout either cold or warm based on your setting until the sensor detects your desired temperature.

- Answer Not sure what you mean by “wireless”. This thermostat requires there to be thermostat wiring in the spot your are connecting it to. You can’t place it anywhere you want and make it work, it will have to be hard wired.
