Yes, it does recognize carpet and will lift pads up.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It does have this feature. But if your rug or carpet has any semblance of carpet pile the pads will still drag on the carpet or rug. And it must be set up on hard floor if you want it to dock itself with the pads attached to the robot.

It will raise the mop pads if it notices there is carpet, and lowers for smooth surfaces. You can tell it to mop only, vacuum only, or both.
